The original instrument

The copy

Chitarrone Francese

Chitarrone Francese, my own design based on the painting "Suonatore di Liuto" by Antiveduto Grammatica (1571 - 1626) - Galleria Sabauda, Torino

15 ribs.

String lengths: 66 cm (1x1, 4x2) and 115 cm (9x1).

Tuning like a baroque-guitar with 9 diapasons:

Fingerboard strings: e', bb, gg, dd', Aa
Diapasons: G, F, E, D, C, B1, A1, G1, F1.

Possibly the 13th and 14th courses were G# and F# instead (these strings look thinner on the painting than the ones above).

2 alternative configurations:

- 15 ribs, rich decoration (like on the pictures)

- 35 ribs, simple decoration

Price: € 4550.-
